In the United States, students under the age of 18 are considered to be minors. For the protection of the minor, NSCC requires that these students and their parents understand and follow these rules:
- Students who do not have a local guardian in the Seattle area must live in a homestay until they turn 18 years old. Please go to http://isp.northseattle.edu/homestay.html for more information on homestays.
- If the student has a local guardian in the Seattle area, then they must submit a guardianship form, which includes contact information for the guardian, to the International Programs office when they arrive in Seattle.
- Students will not be permitted to register for classes until they show proof of a homestay or local guardian.
- Students must immediately update the International Programs office if their living situation or arrangements change.
- If the student fails to follow these requirements, then they will face serious consequences. This may include, but is not limited to, not being allowed to register for classes and their immigration status may be negatively affected.

If you need housing, please make arrangements at least 6 to 8 weeks in advance.
