What We Do
At North Seattle Community College (NSCC) we want to make sure that international students have the assistance and resources they need to make their stay and studies in Seattle a success. The International Programs office staff can assist international students in these areas:

  • Admissions
  • Academic and Immigration Advising
  • Activities Housing

Location
The International Programs office is located in the College Center Building room CC 2357.

Hours
Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 5 pm, and Fridays from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Mari

Mari was born in the Philippines, raised in Canada, and is an alumna of a Washington State Community College. She has overseen International Programs at North Seattle Community College since 2006. Mari supports the values of NSCC, which include celebrating diversity and creating a rich environment by embracing the perspectives of a global community (or) by embracing diverse cultures, ideas, perspectives and people. She believes a helpful, knowledgeable, professional international advising staff is essential to assisting international students and study abroad students with their educational success. Mari has her BA in Psychology from University of Washington and her Masters in Higher Education Administration from Western Washington University. She has extensive overseas travel experience and is actively involved in training and support for international student advisors across the United States..

Ryan

Ryan has worked with international students for the last 10 years as both a teacher and an advisor. He also lived in Japan for a year as an exchange student at Sophia University in Tokyo. Ryan often travels for work and really enjoys meeting students and parents and enjoying the food in Indonesia, China, Vietnam, Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong and Japan. Ryan is responsible for admissions as well as academic and immigration advising.

Jo

Jo studied and worked in publishing in New York City before moving to Seattle in 1980. Her weekly email updates keep students informed about events, important SEVIS updates and opportunities for students in the Seattle area. Jo is a great resource for students and happy to help them solve any problems.

Viki

Viki came to the U.S. 12 years ago as an international student from Macedonia. Viki was born in Germany and lived there for several years before moving to Macedonia where she graduated from high school. She graduated from college in Seattle majoring in International Business and Marketing. Viki creates the admission packets and also assists students with finding housing.

Ethel was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and moved to Seattle in 1979. She worked in the Travel Industry for 15 years before becoming a full time mom. Her household has been a host family for International College students for the last 7 years.

Nam is from Vietnam and started at NSCC in January 2007. He enjoys traveling and shopping and… sleeping. He has also played basketball for 5 years. He helps students during Orientation and works as a student assistant in the International Programs office.

Anya moved to the United States over 3 years ago from Ukraine where she taught English and worked with study abroad programs for 6 years. She also lived in Turkey where she was a Business English Trainer. Anya was an exchange student in Oregon which sparked her love for international education. Since earning her Bachelor’s Degree in English Language and Literature and Master’s Degree in Language Philology, she’s focused on working to promote international education. Anya is an International Student Advisor at NSCC and is also the Study Abroad Coordinator.

Arden

Arden was born in Southern China and grew up in Boston, MA. She lived in Italy and China after college and moved to Seattle a little over a year ago. She worked with international students in China and loved it! Arden is one of the marketing specialists who communicates with potential students and agents overseas. She coordinates the IP office website and loves designing flyers and brochures for the office. She also helps keep the NSCC website updated and free of bugs.

Sayaka came to the USA in 2001 as an international student from Japan. She studied travel and tourism as well as business management. After spending over a year working as a housing coordinator she has joined the NSCC team as a Marketing Specialist.

Paula is the fifth of 12 children growing up in a French-Canadian family. She has been working in International Education for 12 years. She has visited Costa Rica, Taiwan, England and has traveled extensively in Japan where she taught ESL for a year. She is currently the Study Abroad Coordinator, Travel Consultant and International Student Advisor. She enjoys meeting International students to learn and share the many different cultures. In her free time she enjoys traveling, sewing and photography.

Roxy was born and raised in Oahu for 16 years before moving to Washington State in 2002. She enjoys listening to music, playing basketball if the weather permits, and reading books. She is a part-time Program Assistant providing information to students regarding registration and other miscellaneous questions they have.

Roxy

Olen is an international student studying Sociology at the University of British Columbia and will be graduating in August of this year. He was a management intern at Nordstrom and currently is the SEVIS Coordinator at the IP office. Being an international student himself, he loves international education and wants to pursue his passion working with international students.
