Degrees and certificates are not automatically awarded when you complete your program requirements — you must apply for graduation. It is important to submit your application as soon as you have registered for the last courses needed to complete your degree or certificate so you can graduate at the end of your final quarter. Applications submitted after the quarterly deadlines will be held and processed the following quarter.
At least 90 credits must be earned toward an Associate Degree; requirements for a certificate vary. For a degree, at least 15 credits must be earned as NSCC resident credit, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0. At least ½ of the credits for a certificate must be earned as NSCC resident credit. Credit by Exam does not count as resident credit for our degrees or certificates.
Each degree and certificate has specific course requirements and may also require minimum course grades. See the College Catalog and specific curriculum guides for more certificate and degree information.
The Associate in Business, Associate of Arts, Associate of Science & Associate of Science options 1 & 2 Degrees follow statewide guidelines for transfer. Use of credit from foreign institutions, AP, IB, & Military Training may be limited and may be subject to review by the receiving university.
- Complete the Graduation Application
- See your advisor. If you are completing one of the Health & Human Services or Watch Technology programs, you should see your faculty coordinator. Applications must be signed and a current Report of Academic Progress (Degree Audit) needs to be attached for the credentials evaluator.
- Submit your application to the Credentials Office for official review. Evaluations of graduation applications will begin after grades have been posted to student transcripts. You will not be contacted before or during the evaluation unless there is a problem. Degrees and certificates will be mailed 1 to 8 weeks after the award has been posted to your transcript. Using the online transcript service, you can see when degrees and certificates have been posted. They will appear at the bottom of the transcript.
